Look, we’re not saying we’ve completely forgotten about the Kaizer Chiefs and South African football legend. And we are certainly not saying he’s old news. All we are saying is that there’s a new Radebe in town that Lucas will have to share the sunlight with. Play nice, Radebes.
Weighing in at 140 pounds with a very convenient Harvard degree, our new heavyweight Radebe is playing on a different field to ol’ Lucas (sorry Lucas, didn’t mean to call you old, but this guy is 20).
Mfundo Radebe has started an initiative, called Dlulisa, to collect and redistribute unused textbooks to needy schools across South Africa. The initiative aims to redistribute more than 25 000 books in Jo’burg and Cape Town to see how well it does.
Of course, we all know access to textbooks is a problem (ahgrm, Limpopo DBE, is that you?). A problem, in fact, that we tried to solve with our “EduBooks” platform last year, remember? Do you also remember it failed miserably when everyone was too lazy to list their books for cash (wink wink, nudge nudge).
No harm done, though, cause now we can offer our technology to Mfundo to see how we can help his initiative, while we focus on other things. To donate your textbooks to other needy South Africans, head over to dlulisainitiative.org and send them a message.
