For students, the beginning of the year is an exciting time! You’re going to be catching up with friends, or meeting and making new friends. Whether you’re in a digs, or in a residence having a few fail-safe recipes to fall back on will always come in handy.
So, how about we start with something simple? Time to crack open a packet of chips, and whip up some of these simple recipes for two-ingredient dips.
Holy Guacamole!
This could really not be any simpler.
Ingredients:
- Mashed avocado
- Greek yoghurt
Method:
Mix equal parts plain Greek yogurt and mashed avocado. Season with salt, garlic or other spices to taste.
Yo Besto Pesto (100% Vegan)
Ingredients:
- 3 TBS Olive Oil
- 4 cups fresh Basil
Method:
Mix 4 cups basil with 3 tablespoons olive oil in a food processor until combined. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
- No food processor? Put some elbow grit into it! Hand mashed basil mixed with olive oil, makes for a rustic and delicious pesto.
Whiskey Business Marinade (100% Vegan)
Ingredients:
- Whiskey
- Balsamic Vinegar
Method:
Mix equal parts whiskey and balsamic vinegar and marinate meat for at least 30 minutes.
- Vegan? Why not use this marinade to marinate tofu?
Chili-Nutter
Ingredients:
- 1 cup Sweet Chilli Sauce
- 4 tsp peanut butter (crunchy, smooth – it’s your choice)
Method:
Mix ingredients together, and pour over 2-minute noodles.
Mustar(d) up the Courage
Ingredients:
- Mayo, or Greek Yoghurt
- Dijon Mustard, or spicy brown mustard.
Method:
Mix 2 parts mayo or Greek yogurt with 1 part Dijon or spicy brown mustard. This is great as a dip for fresh veggies (for the health nut’s around), or as a salad dressing and/or cracker spread.
There we have it – five easy go-to dip recipes for when all your mates come around!
PS. Don’t try to pretend that you’re not going to lick the bowls out when your friends leave.
